The Richard Meier & Partners Model Museum is only open for part of the year (May to October, Fridays only), and typically open by appointment only. We lucked out in landing a slot for a tour during Open House New York. If you can go, I highly recommend it, especially if you've been to the Getty in LA. It was wonderful to see the large scale models of the museum in progress as well as models of projects that were never completed, like their World Trade Center proposal. View the full set.

The Salmagundi Club, originating in 1871 as a sketch class in Johnathan Scott Hartley's studio and purchased this mid-nineteenth century brownstone house in 1917 as its second home. It was cited in 1957 for its architectural distinction by the Society of Architectural Historians and the Municipal Art Society. I visited the club as part of Open House New York. The Poets House is a a literary center and poetry archive (Gold-LEED-certified) located by Battery Park City, right on the Hudson River. I took the above photograph in their whimsical children's room during Open House New York.
