Sufjan Stevens / The BQE
November 1, 2007 -- Sufjan Stevens and an orchestral ensemble perform "The BQE" and other works at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, NY as part of the 25th Next Wave Festival.
Shot for Pitchfork. Myself and three other press photographers were given access to shoot the entire show, but from a press box on stage left. Given the oblique angle, it was difficult to get a good view of Sufjan's face while he was at the piano. But it was fun to get some wider shots of the entire orchestra. The video projection of 8mm film shot in and around the BQE added a nice touch and gave me some interesting backgrounds to work worth.
